Shlagel Farms: Pick Your Own Pumpkins

Time: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Location: Shlagel Farms LLC, 12850 Shlagel Road, Waldorf

Cost: $9 per person; adults and children 25 months and older, 24 months and older are free

Description: Shlagel Farms has developed a program to help educate and give a fun farm experience to children and the adults who accompany them. They focus on helping people to gain a better understanding of how food gets from their fields to the consumers table (farm to table). They also have a strong emphasis on farm safety, sharing the world with animals and taking care of natural resources. The learning environment in interactive, so don't be afraid to ask questions. Visitors can go on a fun wagon ride through the fields, take a stroll through the petting zoo, and don't forget to pick your pumpkin (pumpkins are an additional fee).

Shlagel Farms is open to school groups, home school groups, day cares, and scouting groups for weekday tours. Weekday tours can be scheduled Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The average tour lasts 90 minutes and a group minimum is 15. Shlagel Farms will provide inside seating for brown bag lunches and discussions with the farmers.
