Charles County Administrator Michael D. Mallinoff, Esq., ICMA-CM announces Jennifer L. Harris, APR as the chief of Media Services. Harris will begin her employment with Charles County Government on Monday, Jan. 29.
As the chief of Media Services, Harris will manage and coordinate the work of the Media Services Division. These responsibilities include disseminating county information to the public and media, maintaining cooperative relationships with news media, and acting as the authorized spokesperson and news media liaison for Charles County Government.
“I look forward to working with the talented team here in Charles County, and our partners in the media to ensure that our citizens are informed and engaged,” said Harris. “Charles County is a remarkable place and our community offers so many unique assets. I am excited about sharing our story with residents here and with those throughout our region.”
Harris has extensive expertise in strategic communications, media relations, executive counsel, and community engagement in the public sector, serving in a variety of senior communication roles in local government and public schools. Harris is accredited in public relations through the Public Relations Society of America. She most recently served as the director of communications for Arlington Public Schools and previously as a senior communications officer for the City of Alexandria, Virginia.
“In this key role, Jennifer brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Charles County Government,” said Mallinoff. “I welcome her perspective and leadership in enhancing our communication efforts.”
Harris holds a Master’s of Public Administration degree from George Mason University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University.
