THE BOARD OF APPEALS FOR CHARLES COUNTY, MARYLAND has been petitioned by
Mr. David L. Prohaska, for the renewal of an existing Special Exception for a Halfway House, as provided in Article XIII, Section §297-212 (Use #3.04.300) and Article XXV, Section §297-415 of the Charles County Zoning Ordinance.
The subject property, 8806 Dove Drive in Bel Alton, Maryland, is designated as Tax Map 55, Grid 14, Parcel 189 and is 2.98 acres in size. More specifically the property is identified as Lot 24 within the Bel Alton Estates Subdivision and is zoned Rural Conservation (RC). The residential home is currently being leased by The Jude House, Inc. to house five (5) or less women, as part of their long-term treatment and recovery program. The use of the residential home as a Halfway House (Use #3.04.300) was authorized for period of two (2) years by the Board of Appeals, via special exception approval of Docket #1352, in accordance with the established conditions stipulated in the Decision and Order for Docket #1352, dated May 10, 2016. Mr. Prohaska seeks to renew the special exception use passed the originally established two (2) year approval period, such a renewal is subject to a Public Hearing and relevant notice requirements.
The Board of Appeals is hereby giving notice that a Public Hearing will be held on this matter Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Commissioners Meeting Room of the Charles County Government Building, La Plata, Maryland.
