THE BOARD OF APPEALS FOR CHARLES COUNTY, MARYLAND has been petitioned by Mr. Arkley W. Smith & Diane L. Smith, for variance approval to the minimum yard requirements (setbacks) for Commercial Stables, as well as the minimum lot criteria (size) for Commercial Stables in accordance with § 297-87 B. Figure VI-1, Schedule of Zone Regulations, of the Charles County Zoning Ordinance, which would enable the Commercial Stable to stay in the current location. The variance request is in accordance with the provisions of § 297-416 of the Charles County Zoning Ordinance. The subject property – 7040 Leonardtown Road, Bryantown, Maryland, is designated as Lot 7 within the Land of Brandywine Auto Sales, Inc. Profit Sharing Plan subdivision, and is identified on Tax Map 35, Grid 5, Parcel 13. Lot 7 is approximately 5.145 acres in size and is in the Agricultural Conservation (AC) Zone. The Board of Appeals was originally scheduled to hear this matter on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 but it has since been rescheduled due to a deficiency in the Applicant’s mailed public notice. The Board of Appeals is hereby giving notice that a Public Hearing will be held on this matter Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Commissioners Meeting Room of the Charles County Government Building, La Plata, Maryland.
